For Best Community Service, Chicago State University, Chicago, Illinois USA. Mary E. Kirk, accepting.
The program is a class for prospective foster and adoptive parents. The need for foster and adoptive parents, particularly in the African-American community, has been both recognized and well documented. Thousands of infants and children are in dire need of such homes and care. In response to this crisis, Chicago State paired up with a community service agency to provide a course o parenting for prospective foster and adoptive parents. This is what our profession is all about. This is what our field is all about. Taking care of others, and serving our communities and our nations through lifelong learning.
