For Best Programming, College of Lake County, Grayslake, Illinois USA. Pat DiPrima, accepting.
The Juneteenth Underground Railroad Tour was a daylong educational bus tour of Lake County underground railroad stops. The focus was on the African American experience. More than 100 people participated from a cross-section of the community. Separate flyers were designed for different audiences, such as older adults. We liked the program because it was a fun, positive way to educate a generally white community about diversity, and because almost all communities have a similar important link to the past that highlights the diversity of our society.
