Awards

Okanagan College
Penticton, BC
Canada
Description:

Okanagan College was breaking new ground and it turned out to be a risk worth taking when the numbers were all in at the end of the event.

Eat.Drink.Tweet. – A three -day Social Media Bootcamp focusing on the wine and culinary industries  that was promoted almost exclusively through social media and e-blasts resulted in success on all fronts.

We believe that Eat.Drink.Tweet. deserves to be considered for the LERN Marketing Award as that is where there is reference to Social Networking and Social Media in the nomination guidelines.

Eat.Drink.Tweet is a deserving candidate due to the fact that it recovered all of its costs (and then some), and participants are still talking about the experience and lining up for next year’s event.  Further, it broke new ground on the programming front, and in one short weekend received more than two million impressions on Twitter alone.  #eatdrinktweet was a trending topic in Canada, second only to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and people the world over participated in a live twitter tasting (wine tasting) via technology…..and all of this is the result of almost exclusive use of social media for marketing and promotion of the event.
